History of Prudence Lodge
Prudence Lodge # 190 was constituted on November 18, 1891, by Maryland Grand Master of Masons Thomas J. Shryock. The first elected officers of the lodge were Worshipful Master William H. Kiglar, Senior Warden W. E. Ganes, Junior Warden I. E. Bromwell, and Secretary/Treasurer Ernest M. Anderson.
Most of Mount Airy’s founding fathers were members of Prudence Lodge, as have been several of the town’s mayors throughout the years.
